Child Protective Services
Provides services on the behalf of children to protect them from abuse or neglect. Call to report that children under age 18 are being abused or neglected.

Child Care
These programs are intended to increase the availability, affordability, and quality of child care. Specific services include:
Education and assistance for parents choosing child care
Child day care subsidies to low-income parents
Day care providers assistance, training and licensing programs

Child Support Enforcement
Social Services Division of Child Support Enforcement is committed to ensuring that all children in Virginia receive the financial support to which they are entitled.

Services include:
Locating non-custodial parent
Legally establishing the father of a child (paternity)
Establishing and enforcing support orders
Working with other states when either parent does not live in Virginia.

Children's Insurance
The Children's Medical Security Insurance Plan (CMSIP) was created to meet the health care needs of Virginia's uninsured children between the ages of 0 through 18 years, in working families that earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but not enough to afford private health insurance.

Foster Care Services
Foster care provides temporary care of children who can no longer remain in their home due to difficulties in the family situation. Services also include counseling, training, and other support services to help stabilize the family while working to return the child home.

Adoption Services
Adoption services include assisting with the placement of a child into a new permanent home when return home is not possible, and providing counseling and support to the child through the adoption process.

Women, Infant and Children Food Program (WIC)
Provides financial assistance to women with infant children to purchase nutritious foods. Apply through the Westmoreland County Health Department
