Westmoreland County has developed a comprehensive plan to guide decision-makers in planning for and responding to the county's future growth and development.
The 1999 Comprehensive Plan is a continuation of the planning efforts initiated in Westmoreland County's original Comprehensive Plan adopted by the Board of Supervisors in December 1974. Its contents includes:
- Natural Resources
- Economic Resources
- Community Facilities and Services
- Housing
- Parks and Recreation
- Transportation
- Land Use
The plan is reviewed at least once every five years and revised if necessary. The Planning & Transportation Commission is responsible for development of the Comprehensive Plan.
