The Board of Supervisors establishes and enforces county policy, codes and ordinances. It approves operational and capital budgets, makes land use decisions, sets local tax rates and makes appointments to boards, commissions and other positions.

The Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors will conduct its regular meetings the second Monday of each month commencing at 6:00p. The Board will meet as needed to consider land use matters the Wednesday following the second Monday of each month commencing at 6:00p. The regular and land use meeting will be combined for the month of October due to the Columbus Day holiday. Said meeting will be held on the Wednesday following the second Monday of the month beginning at 6:00p.

All regular and land use meetings will be held in the public meeting room at the front entrance of the George D. English, Sr. Memorial Building, located at 111 Polk Street in Montross.

Voters in each election district in the county, including the towns of Montross and Colonial Beach, elect their supervisors for four-year terms.
