SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL PROCEDURES
EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2019
Beginning July 1, 2019, residents of Westmoreland County, Virginia will be required to display the Westmoreland County Waste Disposal Permit in their vehicle when disposing of waste at any of the County’s three solid waste disposal sites. Persons not displaying the Westmoreland County Waste Disposal Permit will not be allowed to dispose of their waste at any site. Permits are available to residents at the Westmoreland County Treasurer’s Office, located at the rear entrance of the George D. English, Sr. Memorial Building, 111 Polk Street, Montross, VA. Permits are issued upon verification that all personal property and real estate taxes have been paid. Those residents who are renting should present proof of residency to receive their permits or ask the owner of the property for the use of the permit associated with the rental property.
Also effective on July 1st, Westmoreland County’s solid waste disposal convenience sites will no longer accept cash, check or credit card payments for the disposal of brush, tires, or electronics. Payment for the disposal of such items must be in the form of a Westmoreland County coupon. Coupons are available for purchase at the Westmoreland County Treasurer’s Office during normal business hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (except during holidays and inclement weather). Coupons are non-refundable/non-transferable and will expire on June 30th of each fiscal year. Information regarding the 2019-2020 rates for the disposal of brush, tires, and electronics is available on the County website: www.westmoreland-county.org. If you should have any questions regarding these new procedures, please contact the Westmoreland County Treasurer’s Office at (804) 493-0124.
