Public Trash Services
The Town of Montross provides curbside trash pickup for its residents once a week. Colonial Beach picks up residents’ trash at the curb once a week. There are also a number of private trash collection services that operate in Westmoreland County.
Public Waste Collection Sites
If you live in Westmoreland County, Montross or Colonial Beach, you must obtain a hangtag from the Treasurer’s Office and display it when you take your trash and recyclables to any of the county’s three collection centers. Some of them accept other types of waste, as noted:

Recycling
All three of the public waste collection sites also accept the following materials for recycling:
- Newspaper
- Glass (clear, green, brown)
- Aluminum
- Plastic (#1, #2)
- Tin
- Bi-metal products
- Used motor oil
Construction Debris
The County’s waste collection sites do not accept heavy construction debris, such as bricks and cinder blocks. You may obtain a voucher from the County Administrator’s Office to take these wastes to the facility in King and Queen County.
