Victim/Witness Program

This office is here to SUPPORT, ASSIST, INFORM, and EMPOWER. As a victim or a witness to a crime in Westmoreland County, this program is here to assist you through the Criminal Justice System and aid you with your recovery from the crime. These services are offered FREE OF CHARGE and are COMPLETELY CONFIDENTIAL.
 
The Victim Witness Program works directly with the offices of the Commonwealth Attorney and The Sheriff to help insure timely communication and client assistance.

Services Provided
  • Court assistance and advocacy

  • Information about your case

  • Explanation of court procedures

  • Assistance with your role as a witness

  • Information on protective orders

  • Employer or school intercessions to explain missed time due to required court appearance(s)

  • Filing for VA Victims Fund

  • Assistance with restitution 

  • Assistance in recovery of personal property held as evidence

  • Assistance with restitution

  • Referrals for other services as needed
