Lightning Strike Hits Westmoreland County Radio Tower
MONTROSS, VA – June 27, 2025 – Westmoreland County officials are responding to a lightning strike to a radio tower on Thursday evening, June 26, 2025, at approximately 11:50 PM.
Critical to note: The ability for residents to call 911 was never impacted and remains operational.
"We want to assure our residents that 911 services remain functional," said Blake Byrd, Chief of Emergency Services. “Emergency services continue to operate, and public safety remains the county's top priority.”
