The Westmoreland County Department of Social Services believes that our county's citizens should be able to lead the very best lives they possibly can. When it's hard for you to meet your basic needs, we're here to lend a helping hand. We offer or can determine your eligibility to receive the following:

Adult services. We provide preventive, protective and support services to impaired adults and the elderly.

Child services. We provide access to quality childcare and health insurance for children whose parents or guardians can't afford it, and we help protect children from abuse and neglect.

Employment services. Getting and keeping a job is the key to independence-and is a big job in itself. Job placement, training, and assistance with transportation and childcare expenses are just some of the ways we can help.

Family services. Not every home is a happy one. We help victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault get back on their feet and provide support services to prevent family breakdowns in the first place.

Financial assistance. We provide money to those in need to pay for essentials like food and fuel.
