This full-time position is responsible for performing professional work in comprehensive planning, GIS mapping, zoning review, and code enforcement. Work is performed under general supervision of the Director of Planning and Community Development. The salary range is $42,152 – $69,464 with a generous benefits package.

Building Inspector

This full-time position is responsible for technical onsite reviews of building projects and similar work, as well as responsible administrative work. Primary duties include conducting onsite inspections and reviewing building plans and construction for compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and other relevant codes, in addition to related work as required. Field work and performing inspections outdoors are necessary components of the position. Work is performed under general supervision of the Building Official.

Environmental Compliance Officer

This full-time position is responsible for administering all County Codes related to environmental protections and community nuisances associated with Land Use. Primary duties will be the inspection and enforcement of reported violations, as well as County regulations including erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act, and wetlands. Field work and performing on-site inspections outside are necessary components of the position. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Land Use Administrator.
