At the Board meeting on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, the Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors announced the hiring of James P. Taylor as the new County Administrator, effective December 1, 2024. Chairman Fisher stated, “we need to define where we go from here …. going forward we have great optimism and we believe we have made the best decisions that we could to put us and put the people we brought on to move us forward.” Taylor brings a wealth of experience working in local government, nonprofits, and the private sector. He most recently served as the Deputy County Administrator in Hanover County where he has spent the past 24 years.
Taylor stated, “I am deeply honored to be selected to serve as the new County Administrator of Westmoreland County. Thank you to the members of the Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors for entrusting me with this important role for the community. I appreciate their thoughtful and deliberate process in making this selection. I look forward to working with our elected leaders, County staff, community partners, and residents to address the challenges and opportunities that face us. Citizen engagement and customer service will be among our top priorities. We will work hard to earn a high level of citizen trust through communication, service, and accountability.”
